The Wall Street Journal claims Binance.US execs were in talks with the Trump family over a potential stake in the exchange - part of a supposed plan to bring Binance back to the U.S., possibly with Trump-backed World Liberty Financial in the mix. Oh, and maybe even a pardon for CZ.
CZ wasted no time shutting it down, calling it “fake” and saying he’s had “no discussions of a Binance US deal with … well, anyone.” He also claimed WSJ and another outlet were aggressively hunting for confirmations, framing it as another hit piece on crypto and Trump. Meanwhile, Binance Global just secured a $2B investment from Abu Dhabi’s MGX fund. $BNB jumped 12.6% on the rumors.

While that fire burned, Solana’s governance just had its biggest showdown yet. A proposal to slash token emissions from 4.6% to 1.5% failed on the last day of voting. Heavyweights like Co-Founder Anatoly Yakovenko backed it, arguing Solana was overpaying for security. Smaller validators weren’t having it, saying it would crush them.
With 74% turnout across 910 validators, it was one of the largest governance votes in the industry. It needed a 66.67% supermajority but landed at 46.6% Yes, 27.4% No. The emissions debate isn’t over - just postponed.
