The Importance of Education in World Peace and Development
Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. In celebration of the role of education for development, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as the International Day of Education.
Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.
Today marks the fifth International Day of Education, and it will be celebrated under the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”. UNESCO is committed to driving education transformation and progress towards all the Sustainable Development Goals against the backdrop of a global recession, growing inequalities and the climate crisis.
Making Cents Launches Global Outreach Program
The crypto landscape is rapidly growing, bringing exciting new opportunities and disruptive technology that will transform the way we work and live. However, according to market research firm GWI, it is estimated that global adoption rate for crypto remains at ~10%.
Making Cents is drawn towards the UNESCO’s commitment to “invest in people, prioritize education”. It is for this reason, we are launching our Global Outreach Program to bring crypto education to young adults around the world. We will be launching our flagship program in the University of Lagos in Nigeria (ranked top 3 in country). The first session will be held in mid-February. We are also in talks with various other universities to expand our program in Nigeria.
The Value of Vite Ecosystem for New Crypto Users
The education program that Making Cents has designed will be centred around the Vite ecosystem and its various DeFi applications. Why is Vite an attractive platform for new crypto users?
Vite is a zero-gas Layer-1 which allows users to have self-custody of their own tokens on the Vite wallet app, which also features an in-built order-book decentralised exchange (ViteX). These characteristics are not trivial given the risks and reputational damage that centralised platforms have received in recent months. In addition, a new user can freely (literally) explore sending and receiving transactions on the blockchain without paying hefty fees.
