What is Making Cents?
Established in May 2022, Making Cents has grown rapidly to become the leading web3 social, marketing and educational platform on Vite blockchain. The project has also recently been awarded official sponsorship from Vite Labs under the 'SBP Sponsorship for DAO Builders' program. Making Cents is drawn towards Vite's vision of a multi-chain future, and aims to become the meeting place for like-minded crypto enthusiasts and new crypto users to learn about the diverse ecosystem of blockchains and their capabilities, as well as exchange knowledge on a wide range of crypto-related topics.
The project is dedicated to three pillars of operations — Crypto Education, Affiliate Marketing and Social Publishing. The strategic combination of these complementary services will enable the project to achieve greater network effects, accelerating crypto adoption. This article aims to share the many ways one can earn with Making Cents.
Learn-to-Earn
Learn-to-Earn is gaining popularity in the past year as it offers new users to the crypto space a low risk and fun way to learn and acquire cryptocurrency at the same time. Many popular crypto platforms and exchanges have also started to launch their own learn-to-earn programs, such as Coinmarketcap, Binance and Coinbase just to name a few.
In the same vein, Making Cents recognizes the importance of providing a safe and risk-free environment for users on the Vite to learn about the blockchain capabilities and its wide range of dapps. The following section aims to share the 4 ways one can earn by learning with Making Cents.
#1 - Completing tasks
Making Cents helps to match crypto projects seeking for users to promote them on social media platforms. To ensure value for users, the Making Cents team curate the projects it partners with by getting to understand their business model and team, and will only partner with projects that are credible and of high quality. #2 - Learning to use dapps
For users who are ready to take their learning to the next level, there are higher-level tasks which requires them to become a user of various dapps. For example, recent learn-to-earn campaigns included (1) providing liquidity on Pancakeswap and staking the Liquidity Provider (LP) token on app.vivafi.org to earn more rewards, and (2) learning to stake tokens to earn rewards on app.vivafi.org. Users who are actively engaging with the community will receive tip from the Making Cents bot randomly and automatically. This is one of the features the team has built into its innovative and proprietary bot. The tips are in the form of cryptocurrency of various popular community projects such as $VINU, $VIVA, $VITC, $ViCat and many others.
#4 - Being a community star and helping fellow users
For users who are more experienced, they can pay it forward by helping fellow members ease into the crypto space. There is also a new social rating feature recently introduced to allow users to rate other users based on the quality of help rendered. Users can do so by using a simple command to rate other users. The top 10 rated users for each will receive attractive rewards in $CENT, the project's native token.
Staking Crypto to Earn Rewards
In general, staking is the act of holding onto, or locking up their crypto holdings in their crypto wallet or staking pools, or participating in the network's consensus-taking processes. In this section, we will cover 3 ways one can earn by staking with Making Cents.
#5 - Staking on Viva Staking Pools
Making Cents has established a strategic partnership with popular DeFi staking protocol Viva to enable its users to earn various cryptocurrency with high APR of 50%-70%. The existing pools include staking $CENT to earn $CENT and $VIVA. The $VIVA rewards can be in turn used to stake on a wide range of staking pools to earn other cryptocurrencies such as $ETH, $BTC, $XNO, $USDT, providing a low-risk way to diversify one's crypto portfolio. The staking pools are also accessible via the DeFi Center on the Viterium wallet.
#6 - Voting for Making Cents SBP
The Vite network is powered by 2 types of nodes - the Snapshot Block Producer (SBP) and Full Nodes. The SBPs are responsible for producing snapshot blocks and reaching consensus in the Vite network. The SBP nodes are incentivized by block rewards, which are usually higher than the Full Node rewards. Making Cents has its own SBP and users can vote for it by staking their $VITE in their wallet in 3 easy steps (see figure below). The
MakingCents_SBP is the only SBP that pays out rewards in 10 tokens, namely $VITE, $VITC, $VINU, $VIVA, $ViCat, $XNO, $SHIB, $DOGE, $VX and $CENT, with an APR of ~15%, effectively helping voters to achieve passive income and diversification of crypto portfolio at the same time. There is no lock-up period and users can withdraw their votes anytime they want.
#7 - DAO Rewards for $CENT holders
20% of the SBP rewards are also set aside to reward $CENT holders. By staking $CENT on the $CENT / $VITE pool on Viva, users can earn $VITE as rewards. The current APR is ~30% and there is no lock-up period, meaning holders can withdraw their $CENT anytime they want. The higher the SBP rank, the greater the rewards. Hence, there is incentive for $CENT holders to use the $VITE they earn to vote for Making Cents SBP and continue to enjoy passive income by holding $CENT.
Airdrops and Giveaways
Airdrops and giveaways are ways to most basic form of earning cryptocurrency. Many crypto projects do this to increase holders and followers. Users should follow our social media accounts (Twitter, Discord and Telegram) to receive the latest updates on such opportunities.
#8 - Airdrops
Making Cents regularly run airdrops on our Discord. To not miss out on airdrops, users can select the airdrops role in the #roles channel to receive notifications for future airdrops. The most recent airdrop is also the largest airdrop ever ran on the Vite ecosystem, where the tokens airdropped had a combined value of over $1,000. The event also helped to expand the outreach of Vite, where more than 20% of the users polled were new to Vite and only got to learn about the Vite ecosystem through Making Cents.
#9 - Giveaways
During special occasions, Making Cents also run giveaways on our social media platforms, such as Twitter, Discord and Telegram. For instance, on International Dog Day, Making Cents ran a campaign to ask users to take a photo of their pet dogs and post on social media accounts, where winners of the campaign walked away with $50 worth of $SHIB tokens.
#10 - Ask-Me-Anything or AMA Sessions
Making Cents also partner with various cryptocurrency projects to run AMA sessions. For instance, the $MINION project was invited for the most recent AMA session, where $MINION tokens were airdropped and given away to participants who attended and asked questions. Such AMA sessions offer users a way to get acquainted with new projects as well as earn cryptocurrency.
