When is somebody going to create a blockchain-powered loyalty points exchange?

By dbroyles | Loyalty Points Exchange | 21 Feb 2022

I manage around 6 different loyalty points memberships; mostly retail gas stations like Speedway and Five Star but also a healthcare points system called Go365. Go365 in particular has a great possible blockchain use case in that my insurance company wants to reward me for healthy habits. I get points for gym memberships, discounts at participating grocery stores giving me discounts for fresh fruits and vegetables. At the end of the cycle I have cashed in some nice merchandise with the points. I'm somewhat aware that healthcare has some blockchain solutions, one is MediBloc which promises to fight Medicare fraud by creating a patient centric health system.

Although loyalty points has been around for decades, the business model has always been to incentivize shoppers to choose one store over another. But I think the real value would be the data collected as to track habits using a person-centered approach. Honestly I don't stop at Speedway because I have more points there than Five Star, I stop because its a right turn off the road, or it carries Rock Star energy drinks. Sure, the traditional loyalty points model yields useful data but focusing on the consumer would expand the types of metrics that are impossible to gather in any other way than making the collection consumer centric rather than retail centric

I'll expand this person-centric data collection idea on the next post where I'll address how healthy habits can not only be tracked but actually pay off. Think of BAT but with attention on healthy activities
