Picture is from a Christmas Story

As a kid, I worried about receiving crummy Christmas gifts. I didn't want socks, ugly sweaters, or pants; I wanted toys! One Christmas I saw the timeless classic, "A Christmas Story." I watched with a mixture of delight and horror when little Ralphie was given the worst Christmas gift ever; a pink bunny suit! I laughed until I cried and then I looked around nervously thinking... "what if I had to wear a pink bunny suit?"

I think many of us have similar feelings about the return of Jesus. We claim to look forward to it but secretly fear He will say, "Well done" and then hand out pink bunny suits! In fact, it's the opposite, we have a lot to look forward to!

John 14:1-3,

"Do not be worried and upset,” Jesus told them. “Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am."

One day Jesus will come back and it will be the ultimate Christmas. We will not receive gifts of video games, dolls, or gift cards but instead we will receive our rooms in Heaven. Each room will be carefully prepared for each of us and no one will be disappointed with their Christmas gift. Jesus promised it.
