Any day of the week, every week.
This is especially true when dealing with crypto assets that can be put to work in order to make you more money, like HIVE and LEO for instance. And while this is a conclusion I have reached after years of making terrible trading mistakes, I still catch myself thinking of going against this principle sometimes.
However, it is now much easier for me to not give in and keep holding my assets, as this is exactly what I have been doing for more than a year now, and therefore, it has become a serious addiction. Plus it has made it easier for me to realize how staking and compounding can cause a snowball effect.

I also honestly have a hard time putting my trust in those corrupt financial institutions that overthrow governments and start wars for profit. They make the rules and then refuse to play by them. When I started my crypto journey it was all about value to me, but now it's also about security and privacy.
Profits are good.
Sure, we are all into crypto to make some money and use it to improve our quality of life through our online activities, but I know for a fact that privacy and security are major components of living a happy life. I know it sounds far-fetched and am not implying that governments are actually planning anything like this, but they can easily take absolute control over their citizens' lives if they just decide to restrict access to the banking system.
For whatever reason, at any time, without anyone's permission. Crazy? Absolutely. Likely? Not really. Feasible? 100%. As a matter of fact, we did witness this to an extent the past few years here in Greece, due to the crisis. Basically there were limitations as to how much money you could withdraw from your bank account, as well as geographical limitations regarding transactions.
Your own hard-earned money? Who cares. You can only withdraw up to this amount, and you can't send money abroad.
Period.
It may sound ridiculous but it's true, and this is one of the main reasons why we need crypto and blockchain. The ability to perform borderless, peer-to-peer transactions in a censorship-resistant manner should always be the number one talking point when it comes to crypto and why the world needs it.
A matter of time.
Apparently more and more people are waking up to this fact as the days go by, and this is why the industry keeps expanding with time. However, it's still early in the game, so if you just hold on to your assets for a couple more years you will probably make much bigger profits than trading could ever grant you. This is definitely not financial advice though, more like a note to myself.
The space is still in its infancy stage considering that the vast majority of internet users never use the internet of money. The rate at which this industry is growing also means that I've got a higher chance of avoiding making another terrible mistake if I just choose to sit back and hold. Furthermore, the hard lessons of the past serve as a reminder that the potential of this industry is not to be underestimated.
Moreover, I get to retain true ownership of my funds and I can send them anywhere, any time, without the need of anyone's permission. Plus I get to sleep well knowing that I can't get rug-pulled by the banksters and my funds will be there waiting for me tomorrow morning. Not in the mood for volatility? I can use USDT and it's all good.
Of course I still have to keep a fiat safety net as we haven't completed the transition yet, but I believe we will get there with time. I know for a fact I'm ready for that.
The network of value.
We have digitized almost everything there is these days; the internet is clearly taking over our lives. Transferring and accessing information is now easier than ever before, and the fact that we have managed to turn information into exchangeable value has laid the groundwork for innovation and further development. We are just starting to see the results now.
Combine that with the mess the world is currently going through on all levels, the fact that Democracy is currently under siege, and the non-existent freedom of speech even in countries of the western world, and you will have a clear picture of where we are going with crypto. It may be for the wrong reasons, but we will soon be able to focus on the right ones.
Holding your crypto is more than just holding value. It's more like holding on to your freedom.
Never forget!
