As the hype around blockchain gaming goes on everybody seems to be looking for the next gem.
I was lucky to stumble upon the first round of the freshly emerged blockchain simulator game called “Mintopoly!”. Mintopoly describes itself as a free-to-play idle game, a crypto airdrop platform and a collectible NFT art project all in one.
Let’s take a closer look at the game while the first round lasts about 24 more hours.
The Idle Game
Every round lasts 7 days (30.000 in-game blocks). All players compete in a browser based blockchain simulator to make the most Mintopoly coins.
You’re given 0.00000005 Mintopoly coins to start with. Use it to activate your first mining rig and watch your rewards grow with each block.
After that you will be able to invest your Mintopoly money in upgrades like smart contracts or validator nodes.
The Crypto Airdrop
The top 250 of each round (for the first 50+ weeks) will receive an airdrop of the 'Mintopoly! Money' token in proportion to their share of all in-game earnings. The game is trying out a new play to earn mechanic, distributing the currency free of charge to those who play the game
NFT Mintopoly Cards
12,000 limited edition NFT 'Mintopoly! cards' will be minted. Each provide unique boosts inside the game as earning boosts or headstarts. The NFT will be dropped in small batches over the first 12+ months of Mintopoly!. You can check some of the cards out on OpenSea.
My Conclusion
The game is really only in its beginning stages but the developers show some fresh ideas and have had successful beta runs. Currently there are 1500 players participating in the first round. For me it’s worth sticking around for the first couple of rounds.
So far, the game gave me a lot of insight about the power of accumulation and compound interest in real life, hidden behind the game mechanics.
