Imagine buying a smartphone for just 70$. This will not be a dream anymore. The Indian Billionaire Mukesh Ambanis technological venture Reliance Jio is planning to launch an Rs.5000 or $70 5G smartphone.
Jio took the Indian markets by storm when it launched a promotional offer with high-speed 4G. Their venture forced many competitors to merge their business or shut shop. Many telecom operators in India did not buy 5G spectrums as they found it very expensive and are not currently in a financial position to buy it. But Jio is already preparing to roll out 5G.
Jio cannot make a profitable 5G solution if no one has a 5G supported device. The new 5G phones coming up in the market are expensive one and the cheapest one will probably of the 10-15K range (expected).
A large portion of Indians still uses feature phones since they cannot afford a smartphone. Jio is going to change this. Its recent partnership with Google made sure that google will provide the technology for the Indian tycoon to create the budget smartphone.
Representiatives of the company says that they are telling a rough price and it can even go down.
