Ethereum 2.0 recap : what happened on december 1st ?

By yanis | little crypto guides | 7 Dec 2020

December 1th was a very expected date within the ethereum community, because of it was the date of ethereum 2.0 beacon chain launch. So, what happened, and what is the next ?

A new parallel chain

Beacon chain is a parralel chain that validate pos blocks and will coordinate ethereum 2.0 shards. Now it's running, but not fully ready... let's see the next paragraph !

Not fully ready

Currently, Beacon Chain doesn't validate ethereum (1.0) blocks, and isn't able to generate transactions, so ethereum blocks are still validated by PoW.

Still not major changes for end users

Because of ethereum blockchain is still validated by PoW, with its low scalability, ethereum fees are still high, and I think an uninformed user (I don't target n00bs haha) maybe wouln't see anything if he doesn't make some resarchs.
