Coinomi VS Trust, Wallets battle

Coinomi VS Trust, Wallets battle

By yanis | little crypto guides | 7 Jun 2020

Coinomi and Trust Wallet are 2 giants of the wallet industry. Both have millions users and are so useful (signing a tx with pen and paper will give you a big headache).

But... Which is better ?

note : It is my opinion. For choosing which is better for you, let's try both.

Let's go.

1 - Number of supported coins

That's often the 1st thing we look for with a multi-currency wallet.

Coinomi : Supports many coins (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Gridcoin... complete list can be found here).

Trust Wallet : Also supports many. Not exactly the same list, but many (complete list can be found here).  TrustWallet users can ask for new asset support easily.

Conclusion :

  • Coinomi : 1
  • Trust : 1

2 - Staking

Staking is a function that allows users to earn interest with their coins while locking it (interests are newly generated coins)

Coinomi :  Staking of callisto, algorand, smartcash (automatic)

Trust Wallet : They provide staking for Tron, Tezos, Cosmos, Kava and Algorand... that's many !

Conclusion :

  • Coinomi : 1
  • Trust : 1

3 - Exchange

Exchanging coins and tokens is a good thing. Exchanging it directly in wallet is better.

Coinomi : Only plugins (changelly and Coinswitch)

Trust : An app internal exchange, with many coins/tokens

Conclusion :

  • Coinomi : 0
  • Trust : 1

4 - Safety

Because safety is a priority (and it's very important when it stores money).

Coinomi : Never hacked. Users have to set a password that is used for encrypting wallet "file" (so if an attacker finds it, he can do nothing with it).

Trust : Users also can use a password.

Conclusion :

  • Coinomi : 1
  • Trust : 1

5 - Bugs

Nobody likes bugs. When the app stops or is unusable.

Coinomi : A display bug on splash screen (with some screens) and a bug if Tron account is added (just do not add it)

Trust : Bugs with balance display, and internal exchange loading

Conclusion

  • Coinomi : 1
  • Trust : 0

6 - Miscellanous

"bonus" things in the app (there aren't counted as points)

Coinomi : UTXO control (unspent outputs), buying gift cards, walletconnect

Trust : walletconnect

Total

Coinomi : 4

Trust : 4

So both are equal. So make your own research for choosing the best wallet for you (with this or that thing).

If you wanted to use one or both, you can download it here :
