UniSwap V3 Coming? Possibly Layer 2 Solution Ready?
After the $UNI stimulus people have been talking constantly about Uniswap and how it has basically grown so much in the past months. Well one point people aren't discussing or mentioning is the fact that since Late 2019 Uniswap has been working on their own Layer 2 solution with Plasma team and nobody seems to know about it?
According to creator Hayden Adams Uniswap V3 is going to fix everything and by that i think hes literally referring to Layer 2 solution that has been available as demo for some time now, the reason i believe that is due to the fact that biggest issues are speed & fees.
Here is a screenshot of the working prototype known as Unipig.Exchange you can try the demo yourself if you so desire. Right now this demo version works with only swapping between the two tokens, which was launched back in 2019 as shown in the Uniswap official twitter timeline. Back then there wasn't liquidity pool support nor method to deposit tokens in there.
We are obviously expecting many things from V3 top of the things they are already promising
- Scalability to 200 TPS (+100% with sharding methods)
- Near gas free transactions or purely free
- Layer 2 Optimistic Rollup using the OVM
- Native Meta-transactions
If the Uniswap token is going to play a part in the ecosystem of layer 2 mechanisms, we can expect lot more from it in the future. I Could even argue we might see above 15$ valuation at some point for the token due to the sheer fact how big Layer 2 is going to make the ecosystem.
Lot of the evidence really suggests that they are nearing the completion of V3 and its going to be supporting layer 2 mechanisms, whatever it will be branded Uniswap V3 or Uniswap layer 2 remains to be seen in the near future. I believe we might hear something about this during october if things aren't getting delayed as much.
