Why Was ChatGPT Released As A Last Resort?

Since its public release in November, ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, has gained immense popularity. Executives at OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, told Fortune that taking it to the public was kind of a last resort after earlier hiccups. Although ChatGPT has already grown tremendously, you’re not alone in your surprise, because ChatGPT’s success is also shocking to OpenAI, the company behind the viral chatbot. Executives at the company told Fortune they were uncertain of the implications of releasing it in November. Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of OpenAI, told Fortune that he wasn’t sure if it would work.

According to Fortune, OpenAI’s chief technology officer Mira Murati: “This was definitely surprising.”

Brockman told the magazine that the idea to release ChatGPT for public use a few months ago was a bit of a last resort after OpenAI ran into some initial hurdles with the AI chatbot. It didn’t work well because beta testers didn’t know what to ask ChatGPT, Brockman told Fortune, and an attempt to create chatbots that were experts it has been warned, however, that artificial intelligence has the potential to cause danger despite all its potential benefits.

Connie Loizos of StrictlyVC quoted Altman as saying, “Bad cases are like lights out for us all.” “”In the near future, I’m more concerned about a situation of inadvertent usage… I believe it is impossible to exaggerate the significance of the work being done on AI alignment and safety. I would like to see much much more happening.”

What Has The Reaction To ChatGPT Been?

The idea to release ChatGPT for public use was a last resort after OpenAI ran into some initial hiccups with the AI chatbot. Beta testers didn’t know what to ask ChatGPT about in the first place and an effort to create chatbots that were experts in certain areas flopped.
According to Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, ChatGPT gathered more than 1 million users in its first five days.
