Coca-Cola’s Dasani bottled water brand can be found anywhere in the world. Dasani’s distilled water has faced many bumps in the road since its release in 1991. In 2004 there were rumors that consumers discovered that bottled water of Dasani is actually just purified tap water.
The product of the company was pulled from the shelves in the United Kingdom. As the water was containing more bromate than the required amount. Bromate is a chemical compound known to cause cancer risks in humans.
The Guardian reported in 2004,” the Dasani scandal has left coke nursing a 25 million pounds loss from canaled production contracts and advertising deals. and it further reported that ” The damage to the firm’s reputation is 20 times more that figure analyst says.”

Now Dasani’s drinking purified water has become a favorite subject for memes by consumers, Tick Tockers, YouTubers, Reddit users, and Instagramers. They make fun of its pure water and discuss conspiracy theories about its water quality and additives.
A well-known YouTuber named Shane Dawson recently published his video on Saturday, April, 4. He claimed that he discovered a “fizz” sound when he opened the bottle, and he further claimed that it contains additives like salts that can increase drinker thirst.
A representative of the Coca-Cola company reacted instantaneously saying that, “the safety and quality of our products have been our top priority for more than 130 years.”

Studies proved that Dasani is completely safe to drink. Their filtered water undergoes “reverse osmosis plant” and “purification system” and “demineralization process”.
FDA approved Dasani bottled water and claimed that it is safe to drink. As it undergoes various purification processes and processes of distillation. And the nutrients added in Dasani are not added to make consumers thirstier.
