The best part is that you don't have to get rid of Windows. You can install Linux along side Windows and get a menu asking you which one you want to boot, Linux or Windows.

Linux is made to be secure and stable.

The worst thing about Linux is that you will have to get used to the changes of where the control panels is and what it is capable of. Also you will really want to learn HOW to add a new program in Linux with the Software manager.

Linux has a restore point that does the same job as the restore point in Windows. Anything you can do on Windows, you can do on Linux but free unless you want to run a Windows Program on Linux.

There is a free program called WINE that runs Windows programs on Linux, but some programs work right out of the box, and some take some doing to get them to work, and some others just don't work with WINE.

One more point, if you get stuck, 99% of the Linux experts know they used to be new to Linux like you and are willing to help you the best that they can. There is a ton of websites and forums dedicated to helping those with problems/questions. You may want to visit one or two just to see what kind of responses you will get.
