Today when i drove to work with my wife, there was a Hedgehog lying on the middle of the Road. He was lying on the stripy mark pattern  between the lanes of the road, huddled together shivering and afraid. We are driving in a car pool and when she saw him, she stopped the car and drove to the right. I jumped out of the car immediately and she did too. I thought i could reach him without problems, the lane was wide enough for a truck to drive through without hitting him and as he was exactly on the  lane mark i thought he would be alright till i reach him. I thought i would be able to pick him up and save him. He was just a few meters away sitting there right in front of me and i was running on the walkway next to the road. Then a transporter came by and broke out of the lane just to hit and kill the hedgehog. It was clearly done on purpose as the car was moving over to the opposite lane just to hit the hedgehog which was still huddled and not moving. I got angry and yelled to the Driver-"You son of a Bitch", he hit the brakes for a brief moment but then he kept on driving, so i screamed it again with both middle fingers in the air-"You son of a Bitch". I was so angry ,would he have stopped I’m certain i would have attacked him. A few Years back i hit a Cat with my car, it  was crossing the street under the guardrails and i was distracted for a moment because i was blinded by the lights in my rearview mirror from the car driving behind me. When i saw the cat everything went fast ,i tipped the brake but realized that i would not be able to stop in time so i fully hit the Gas instead of breaking  and tried to evade it ,i failed and the cat did run straight into my front wheel -i thought i killed it, it wasn’t moving anymore but it was later revealed to me that the cats jaw was broken. She was treated medically and the cats owner had to pay for it. It was my fault and I’m not proud of it. I lost my focus for a second when it mattered the most, i wasn’t expecting  a cat jumping out under the guardrail, not at that spot. Thers more behind that story but its a long Story so maybe i write about that another Time. The Law here in Austria is a Joke and the Law for hurting animals is even worse. I was so concentrated on the Hedgehog that i didn’t catch the Licence Plate of the Transporter but even if i would have remembered it, he probably wouldn’t have been punished for it. That was my Morning today. Thers no happy end to this Story, i hoped that i would feel better by writing about it and blow off some steam but i do not.
