Life is unpredictable. One moment you're up, the next moment your down.
Sometimes, we plan our future ahead of us, thinking it will certainly be our future and then something happen. At times, we get so confident of our plans. We already considered all other outcome and possibilities and that everything is fall proof and in case of unforeseen emergency we already got it covered with a fail safe system. In a way being ready is good, planning ahead even better but there are other forces in life that can shatter your world. The world you have planned, in a glimpse of an eye will cease to exist.
This is a story that melts down the toughest of hearts. Who wouldn't? Losing someone dear to you will certainly melt you down. How much more losing everything and everyone you hold dear.
Let's call her Joei, not her real name. She's was my workmate way back in previous company I worked for. Were not close, just acquaintance and working in the same team, when I got promoted to higher department. Joei is the kind of person you can really categorize as a strong willed being. In a way, competitive and knowledgeable at work. Joei, is a single mother, blessed with a pretty and intelligent kid.
I only heard this from other friends and including the radio and tv news. But the day of the incident Joei was said to be somewhere, probably at work. I cannot say for sure. But one thing is obvious she was not home when the fire broke. The firefighters were successful making sure the fire won't consume the whole subdivision, unfortunately they were not able to put off the fire in Joei's house. Joei lost her home and everything it in. Including her kid, her mother and niece who stays with them.
They were discovered by firefighters hugging each other in the second floor of the house. There were grills on the windows preventing them from going out. And the fire was fierce downstairs according to the neighbors. Firefighters say it was some kind of faulty wiring connections. Hearts were broken that day. Colleagues who knew Joei tried to contact here to help console her grieving heart.
The fire consumed not only the things and the bodies but also consumed hope and it's future. The dreams and aspirations literally became ashes.
I hope and pray that one day her pain will be healed. And that one day she will find a better place and brighter future.
