Many religions proclaim that life is a divine gift and that no human being has the right to take a life, not even one's own, that is, homicide and suicide are sins of almost the same magnitude.

However, these same religions condemn their practitioners to live a life of suffering and pain because of that dogma.

In many situations a pious death is preferable to a life that is a torture, and in these cases, why should the decision and motivation of a person who would rather die be questioned?
