There's a difference between having a lot of friends and being surrounded by people who are just there for the ride.

You know what I'm talking about: the friend who always texts you to go out, but never makes it because she has "something else" to do.

The friend who always asks you to hang out, then cancels last-minute because she's not feeling well or her boyfriend wants to stay in that night.

The friend who is always asking for favors like money or favors in return (like helping her move furniture), but never gives back when you need something.

The thing is, we all have these friends, and they can be exhausting. But when we're looking for someone who will be there for us no matter what, it's important not just to have lots of friends—but real ones.

What makes a real friend? Well, they're consistent. They keep their promises and show up when you need them most—even if that means canceling plans of their own to help you through something difficult like losing a loved one or going through a divorce.

They don't ask for favors without offering any in return—which brings me back to this question: do we really have real friends? And if you answer yes, appreciate them!
