Optimism.io: What's new in this?
I do not know if it may be months or a couple of weeks now but there is one announcement or better say a banner or popup (not sure what should be the exact name for that) is reminding me that Publish0x will be using ETH and OP as new tipping tokens and will be discontinuing AMPL and SPOT as tipping token.
In a few weeks Publish0x is Switching to Optimism Network. New tipping tokens: $OP and $ETH. Unwithdrawn $SPOT and $AMPL balances will be swapped to $OP at a date we will announce in advance. (more info soon)
I guess SPOT is already discontinued because when I saw my October earnings I did not see a single cent earned in SPOT but anyways back to our topic what exactly is OPtimism network and what is its vision?

What is OPtimism?
Optimism is a Layer2 in the Ethereum blockchain that uses the EVM architecture and helps in scaling the Ethereum ecosystem but at the same time to be faster and cheaper than the ETH blockchain. I guess there are a lot of side chains set up with this objective and Polygon(MATIC) is one of them that is very popular currently. So what looks new in the OPtimism?
Vision and Goals of OPtimism.
Actually, the vision of goals of OPtimism are interesting because their "OPtimism collective" focuses on building a community that can reward public goods and create a sustainable future for ETH. I guess this is interesting as well as 2 edge sword because is business really interested in creating or rewarding people who create public goods? Having a sustainable future of creating public goods also looks like a big task.
But their objective is also to create a beneficial pact between businesses, communities, and "Citizens" ( I guess they are OP token holders) to create "profits". It just made me wonder if it will be going something in line with "WhatsApp" where the service is launched and charged a subscription fee and become free later on to reach a broader mass so that business purchase it can have an "impact" on more masses and can feast on more data.
I would really like to see what actually comes from this that will be desirable and of public utility as the concept on paper is very novel and if it reach to masses then it can definitely make an impact.
Is Hive DAO is also in the same principles?
I can say yes to it in a sense because projects are community funded for the benefit of the community but on the contrary, I can say no to it because there is no matrix that calculates any kind of "impact" of community projects. Also, projects require the support of a certain level of HP votes and if it top Hive holders agree to it then overall sentiments around it do not matter much. ( I do not blame them as others do not increase their stake or really do not care to understand and vote in Hive Governance).
