Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! First of all, I would like to wish Merry Christmas to you all (even if delayed), and a happy new year.
So, today we will talk about Telegram and the scammers (thanks to theatdhe for the idea and the inspiration for this article).
This article can contain strong language. If you're susceptible to this type of insult or content, leave the article now! Also, note that those screenshots are in any way a try to violate other people's privacy, as those are all fake names and all are now deleted accounts. No laws were violated during the making of this article.
What is Telegram?
Telegram is a social network created in 2013 by Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai. It is an advanced cross-platform available for Desktop Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and OxygenOS.
One of the main features is the presence of IFTTT (If This Then That), with advanced public API to develop any kind of Bot possible. It is preferable rather than WhatsApp due to its privacy layers, channels, public API, cloud messages, and many other features that I will not explain in this post.
So, what defines a person as a "scammer"?
Telegram now signs 400k active users daily, and there are also some Bots that are designed to spam some messages. But there are different types of spam, and I wanna do a list here.

1. "Hello" man
The main type of scammer. It will start the conversation like a normal one "Hello, I am [...] from [...], how are you?"
And then he will start talking about some "legit companies" he found on the internet, that guarantee 10% a day (as you may know there is no way to make so much money daily!), and they try to make you invest in there just to make sure they get the ref commission. They're insistent and they propose crazy things sometimes.

And sometimes they get mad if you call them "scammer" (that's funny tho, need to admit it).

Oh, there's also this time (the best one, in my opinion):
2. Direct spammer
There is also a direct spammer. That one person who contacts you and send you a link. No "hello" nor "what's up". Just the link. Many times those are bots programmed to send those links in bulk. Those are the best ones as Telegram will limit their account (Telegram limits an account only if a link is sent), so this spam is rare and (luckily I should say) limited.
3. Screenshot man (well... Bot)
This is the latest in chronological order, and it's happening mainly with Elon Musk (poor Mars man I should say). Many times they just spam a photo and then nothing. As before, those accounts are immediately deleted. There was a period where Telegram itself banned those photos, so they were immediately deleted when sent, but now it's all again a new wave and Telegram did nothing yet (and I personally don't think they will do something). I'll attach a screen on what's the scam site (don't send funds there FOR ANY REASON, this is for informational purposes only, it's not intended to scam anyone).

Why people use Telegram to "scam" or promote something?
Telegram, as you may know, is less controlled and more "safe", if talking about data. That's why people use Telegram to spread false info, pornographic content, scam sites, and many more illegal activities (in those years things are slowly changing, but nothing is really moving on the "scam" side).
Nowadays Telegram does nothing to prevent those type of scam or illegal activity through the platform, so is up to the user to protect himself from those malicious bots/users.
What do you think about this phenomenon? Also, leave a like and a tip if you liked the post!
