Fishing in the Kingston Area

By Badbadger88 | Kingston Ontario | 10 Jun 2021

Hello there and welcome to this edition of what to do in Kingston Ontario! I will be talking about fishing and some good spots in and not far from the city.

The first spot I will talk about is the Kingston Mills. These locks on the Rideau Canal system are a beautiful place to fish. With just a jig head and worms you can catch anything from perch to pike from the various shores and docks. There is a really good spot for bull head right by the water plant. Even if you don't catch anything it's still a beautiful day by the water.

Next up is beside the LaSalle Causeway Bridge just as you come into downtown. After the sun drops behind the buildings in the West the bass love to come in there and feed. Have gotten Largies and Smallies there as well as various other little species. There isn't much to look at here scenery wise but you can snag some good catches if you are patient.

The Portsmouth Olympic Harbour has some alright spots to toss a line in. With a nice view looking across Lake Ontario and lots of nice boats to look at it's a pretty alright urban fishing area.

Front road has a few good shore spots to fish as well. There are some good rocky spots along the road you can get to as well as near DuPont. Lots of variety here from perch to carp. Not one of my favourite spots as I like to eat what I catch and I don't really trust the water there but for sport it's good.

Hopefully this will give you a bit of a start finding places to fish in Canada's first Capitol City Kingston Ontario
