The Impact of FUD

Fear
Uncertainty
Doubt

Do any of these sound fun?  I don't think so at all!  FUD isn't only seen in the crypto realm, but all around the world with various different topics.  Politics, marketing, major news outlets... heck, even cults use FUD to their advantage.  It's a propaganda tactic used to influence perception by disseminating negative or false information in the attempt to manifest an appeal to fear.  Don't be that guy.  You've heard of "Fake News"?  This is pretty much the same thing.  Let's take a look at how FUD plays a role in the crypto community!

This is one thing that crypto communities combat constantly to avoid succumbing to an overwhelming wave of FUD.  When trying to build a brand and community, the last thing you want is someone coming in spreading misleading and false information about it.  These "FUD Armies" view themselves as martyrs, going into Telegram groups and spreading rumors that have no factual backing or, at most times, don't even make sense.  They utilize photoshopped price charts and spoofed news articles to create the fear they so desire.

These individuals trying to disrupt the communities could have a few things in mind before their attack.  They could have been following the coin/token for awhile and noticed the price is getting too high for their liking.  They inject themselves into the community and begin sparking fear, causing holders to sell-off their stake, causing the price to dip.  The "FUDder" can now purchase the coin/token closer to the price they were hoping to grab.  They could also be an undercover member of a rival platform, trying to sabotage the other in hopes of seeing a rise in value of whichever coin/token organization they are from.  They will promote a different crypto within the community and try to steal stakeholders away.

These "undercover operatives" will seek out any crypto that is rising in value... while theirs is falling in value.  Generally, they have nothing better to do than to route their anger towards something outperforming them.  Jealousy?  Sounds like it, but this is only speculation!  They grab their pitch-forks and head to the better-performing community to cause a riot.  At least, they attempt to.  Administrators and moderators within these communities run a tight ship and immediately ban individuals attempting to sabotage their brand.

This is an ongoing issue, as crypto will always out-perform one another in one aspect or another.  The rivalries created between communities themselves is enough to keep the FUD train going... but it isn't necessary.  In my own perfect world, everyone should just stick to what they believe in and watch it grow without having to bash their competitors.  After all, it's all decentralized anyways, so what's with all the commotion?  We all own whatever crypto we choose for ourselves and that's the beauty in it, right

This isn't the case, and probably will never be the case.  Let's just leave it up to the moderation team to weed out these "mother FUDders"!  Plus, it's kind of funny to watch corporations such as Wendy's after other major corporations on Twitter... so I guess there's a little bit of "joy" in FUD for everyone!  That is, only if you aren't consistently swayed in different directions.  Please keep in mind that just because you don't want to hear something, doesn't mean it isn't true.  Always, always, always do your own research.  It's fun to debunk the FUDders with factual findings... or you might even find something misleading yourself that you missed the first time.  I'll just say it again for my peace of mind - always do your own research!

Stick to what you believe in!  You didn't do all that research for nothing!
