NFTs and Counterintuitivity

NFTs and Counterintuitivity

By KatsuCrypto | KatsuCrypto | 29 Nov 2021

After having a discussion with my most trusted crypto guru, I was finally ready to dip my toe in the NFT waters.

I had already aped into VeVe collectibles, powered by the $OMI token. I’m not going to shill too much, here, and this is definitely not financial advice. However, when my normy friends come asking about which NFTs to buy, these are the best and easiest on-ramp into this brave new world. Always do your own research, and don’t spend what you can’t afford.

So, yeah, I bought OMI, I bought some of the first collectibles released on the site, and I’m HODLing.

One night, I was going over to said friend’s house to watch the final four games. When I got there, he was in the process of wrapping some ETH, so that he could place a bid on this NFT that was being sold on Opensea.

We were having so much fun with his bidding war, that the final four games came and went, and we hadn’t seen one play of either game. The rush he got from winning the piece was indescribable!

My problem with all of this was that I only had about 1.5 ETH and I did not want to put my crypto at risk. What if I buy this piece and can’t sell it for a profit? It had gone against everything I was telling myself about crypto and the strategy I had laid out for myself.  Counterintuitive.

But NFTs can be HEDL, just like crypto. I tracked him as he helped with community building in the NFT space and bought more and more art!

About a month later, he sold a collection of 3 pieces for a whopping 50 ETH! It’s one thing to read about Beeple selling a piece for upwards of $69 millon, but knowing someone and actually seeing a sale like 50 ETH ago through for something he bought for 0.7 ETH or so was very eye-opening!

He made me a believer of this NFT renaissance going on, and yeah, there’s going to be a lot of crap out there. I’m sure I am holding a few turds in my Metamask wallet, but hey, this shit’s fun! 👀

I’m involved in a couple of communities that I wouldn’t have found, had I not found NFTs. And thanks to that fateful night where I stopped watching much sports and started watching NFT floors, I won’t walk into the Metaverse without friends and a community behind me.

I still stack sats, here and there, as a hedge. And I still hold ETH, that I absolutely will not sell until 20k 😎! But the NFT community is only getting stronger and forcing the rest of the world to take notice. And if you’re out there buying non fungible tokens, you’re ahead of a lot of the population out there that are just not ready to see the value in them.

Let me know in the comments if you’re out here on these NFT streets buying Cool Dogs or Stoned Apez! Let me know what you’re buying, that you think will hold long-term value or will just be good for a quick flip!
