Modern man thinks he is enlightened, but it is by no means. Rather, most people today know far less about the interrelationships in their world than was the case before industrialization, for example. People just made themselves comfortable in democracy...
For the vast majority of people, however, democracy now only means agreeing to the political and media consensus and its global political goals and agendas. Responsible action? Own thoughts? A different opinion? Contradiction? One just has to see where they have brought people into. Women should have a career and freeze their ovaries or have the right to have an abortion up to the ninth month in case of doubt. Where can so-called common sense still be found today? With the socially successful? With the winners? Or with those who dare to question the current situation, even if only in a quiet little room?
The alienation of humanity from its actual environment has progressed gradually and has now reached an extent that can hardly be overlooked. The acceleration of alienation will increase to its exponential maximum in the coming months and years alone due to the ever-advancing digitization into the last area of life. We do not know what will happen then and until then. In this sense:
"It is one of the most difficult things that can be imposed on a thinking person, knowing to have to witness the course of a historical process among the ignorant, whose inevitable outcome he has long known with clarity. The time of the error of others, of false hopes, of blindly committed mistakes then becomes very long."
Carl J. Burckhardt, 1891–1974
