I don't have a boss. I don't have a paycheck. I don't even have an office. But I work every day. Every day I think, write, look for ideas, and make materials.
What do you say that kind of work?
They say that I am part of the future of the digital economy. Part of web 3. A new world which is free, decentralized, without any mediator, no gatekeeper. But really?
I think I'm nowhere.
Web3, They say that this is a new world, but why does it feel like it?
I think the web 3 was the answer. For us who are not fit in corporate systems. Which are not comfortable with 9 to 5 pieces. Or just want more freedom. But it is revealed… that freedom is also like an illusion.
I wrote on publish0x, hive, inleo. Sometimes I get tips. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes it's busy. Sometimes it calms down as a digital cemetery. Still my mind keeps working.
I once filled an online job application form and asked to describe my work. I was stumped.
"What should I write? A freelance blockchain writer without a certain contract but active every day?"
No, I can't have no area for that
Who are we, anyway?
We are not unemployed - because we work every day.
We are not freelancers - because there is no contract.
We are not entrepreneurs - because many of us don't sell anything.
So who are we?
I think we are: digital unemployed.
Not because we are lazy, but because the system does not yet understand us. It does not accept our existence. It has not made us a place to sit on the table.
We do not ask for salary, just recognition
I am not begging but I hope someone reads it. Someone clicks. Someone appreciates it. One thousand, two thousand Satoshi, or a tip like one.
I am not prone to money, brother. But honestly: If there is no reward, mental health may be damaged. Especially when you see a web 3 project of millions of dollars - but we are like the contributors, ants that are just passing.
It's fun, isn't it? A system that claims to be decentralized, but those who benefit are still the same people.
This is the real job, boss!
Imagine this:
You write continuously on a web 3 platforms for a year, never disappear a day.
You become a Dao Community Admin, answer daily questions, help new members on the ship.
You provide insight, response, even helping the bug open-source forum.
But when you need a work reference, then resume for scholarship, or proof for visa…
None of these are considered valid.
It seems that you are giving everything your everything, but it is not recognized as a work.
we are not alone
I know I am not alone. Many are like me. From Indonesia, India, Venezuela, Nigeria. They work hard, contribute, form communities, but are not considered "employees".
They are not lazy.
They are not unemployed.
They live only in a world that does not yet understand this new type of work.
Final idea: If you feel the same, maybe we are making something
I don't know what the future is.
But if we keep doing this - active, writing, talking, making, making - maybe one day people will feel that the work does not have an ID card, a desk or an office.
If you read it and think, "Damn, this is absolutely me," then we are on the same wavelength.
Perhaps this is the beginning of a silent revolution.
Maybe we are part of a new generation of digital workers, who will be remembered - or at least not forgotten.
Keep making materials.
Keep on winning
And keep telling the world: We are present. Do you also feel like a digital unemployed
