How a search engine's mission is powering the valuable world of search one unique point at a time
So here’s the thing, Presearch is building a decentralized search engine that offers private search, open search results, and rewards as PRE tokens for those who use it. The search engine recently announced it has more than 2 million users, and more than 1 million daily searches. Yes, you read it right. And the more you search, the more rewards you get.

It all began on a summer’s day in 2017, to today as “the team has expanded, become more professional and the project has evolved,” says Tim Enneking, Chairman of the Advisory Board.
They have done a bunch of AMAs (Ask Me Anything) and Contests (like this one #SearchWithPresearch) that helped market themselves better because before that, I knew nothing about them, frankly.
But let’s back up a little, shall we? You first need to register with your email address. After that, in comes a pop-up on the upper right with the juicy button, ‘Add Presearch to Chrome’. Right above it are sections to get to know the search engine a bit better: ‘About’, ‘Buy Tokens (from their marketplace)’, ‘Keyword Staking’, ‘Nodes (used to process user search requests)’, the amount of PRE tokens you’ve accumulated while searching (I have a humble 1 PRE), and your account details. On the upper left is the Presearch logo.
Now, here’s a look at what you may see as your first private search (in my case, ‘Presearch’ at 20:15 GMT + 3, 20th March). On the left of the search, it still gives you multiple options to search with, whether it’s with Google, DuckDuckGo, etc. I like that kind of freedom. The Market Cap is at 38+- million USD, and its price is at 0.0977 USD.
In the ‘My Account’ section, it will show you where you can make changes, check balances, and reach new people through sponsored ads (Keyword Staking).
Get this, in the ‘Referrals’ section, “You become eligible for your 25 token bonus, per referral, once each referral has earned 50 search reward tokens, and has been active 30 days after their initial sign up.” And you can get banners for your website too. Sweet.
To withdraw your rewards and saved PRE tokens, you will need an Ether wallet address. You must have at least 1,000 Eligible Tokens to qualify, though.
Presearch Token (PRE)
The major use cases for Presearch tokens are:
- To reward searches for running their searches through Presearch
- To reward promoters for referring new users to Presearch
- To reward node operators for contributing computing resources to power the platform, and to help secure nodes
- To enable advertisers to have their ads displayed under certain keywords that the advertisers ‘stake’ their tokens against
