Hell Raining Down on the Land of Canaan: Part 4

So far so good when it comes to the ceasefire agreements between Hamas/Islamic Jihad and Israel. One of the unsung hero's so far in this conflict has to be the Egyptian mediators who are leading the efforts between Hamas and Israel. These mediators have also included the Palestinian leadership in West Bank the other occupied territory and other countries like Jordan.

Hopefully still they can hash out a more permanent peace plan as each time there is a "war" or conflict like this they appear to get worse and worse for both sides. The most obvious issue when it comes to helping out the Gaza Strip is how the money will be funneled into the area to allow for relief to be implemented. Israel, the US, and others will definitely not want to just let anyone take money, goods, and food. This has happened before in Somalia and the people in power took it all to dictate how the masses reacted and really lived their lives.

It is no secrete that Gaza has been in disrepair for years with the violence and a terrorist organization in charge along with the blockade of the region money and goods are hard to get into the area. This has led to a huge issue with Palestinian youth feeling like they have nothing left when they fight against Israel and all they can do is gain. Finding a way to provide a better future for the Palestinian youth will be an important strategy to reduce violence.

A tried and true method for creating jobs is via infrastructure projects and with the infrastructure in ruins there is a great opportunity for economic investment and opportunity to help not only the youth but all of Gaza. This issue here is going to be funding as the money cannot go to Hamas at any point and the Western Powers and Israel will be carefully watching that no money what so ever goes to arms or defensive weapons development for Hamas. With Hamas being the ruling party in the Strip mediators will have to carefully craft together some body or agency that can handle it without the money touching those labeled as terrorists.

The biggest issue that will not be touched by mediators that is showing its ugly head is the explosion of anti Semitism that seems to be gripping the US at the very moment. While someone may not agree with what the Israeli government did that does not mean that the Jewish population as a whole is at fault. Just like how in Myanmar the ruling class is not a representation of the group as a whole. The same applies here and I hope to see not only political but religious and celebrity individuals speak out against senseless violence like this.
