Submissive Dog Behavior

Reading Dog Behavior

By joshyoung | joshuayoung | 29 Jan 2020

Behavior related to unmet needs

Chewing up items, mouthing, biting - Needs a harder bone to chew. May need to be trained on how to chew it.

Not paying attention to you - You are not rewarding/ the environment has too much distraction. Either up your reward value or limit the distractions.

Not taking treats anymore while in training - Past threshold training limit, immediately do something fun: play, tug, wrestle, etc.

Behaviors may be related to medical issues

Tilting head to one side - Ear infection.

Coughing - Canine cough.

Anus scratched across floor - Anal gland expression.

Marking Behaviors

Sitting on you/ moving their Anus three inches from you. Not okay if this isn't your dog.

lifting leg to pee for under 1 second

crotch and armpit sniffing

Submissive Behaviors

Showing belly

Peeing

Shaking
