You are reading that right. Other than the cost of the time it took me to engage with Twitter posts and giveaways (time is not free), I spent no fiat or crypto to get my 100th free NFT. Did I also mention I won $60 in ETH? Let me tell you, I'm no savant either, just a regular Joe. How did I do this? Well, I'll give you a short how-to guide herein and a link my OpenSea (where you can the NFTs I've gotten) and the Twitter I set up for this (for those links go the bottom of article). 

So, if you are interested in trying something like this, I first suggest you set up a Metamask wallet. You'll need one because it links to OpenSea which is the platform where NFTs are bought and sold. Once you have a Metamask wallet, I strongly suggest you put some ETH in it - it will cost you a couple of bucks to fund it directly within Metamask, or to send ETH there - be aware there are also fees to take that ETH out. Metamask fees and gas fees are high. I believe this step is important because when you enter a giveaway on Twitter you often need to include your wallet address as the NFTs exist on the blockchain and get stores in wallets as crypto does. My hypothesis is that if the wallet is not entirely empty of funds, someone considering sending you an NFT may be more prone to do so, believing that you are not completely broke and desperate. I have about 0.1 ETH in my MetaMask that is linked to OpenSea. I do wonder if I had more, would I be winning giveaways for even more expensive NFTs in the same way? 

The second step is to create an account with OpenSea. Super easy. Once you have Metamask as an extension in your browser, OpenSea just logs you in using Metamask. Your ETH address and Opensea address become the same essentially. Just a lot of clicking to set up. OpenSea is massive - a great platform to explore and learn on. 

The third step is to create an entirely new Twitter account. I suggest making an entirely new one because you will have to follow so many people on Twitter to enter giveaways, that you'll ruin your other accounts that may be more meaningful or longer-established. Use your personal account if you want, but I don't suggest it. One trick for Twitter is that if you add a period (.) somewhere in the front of your email address, Twitter believes this to be a unique address, while Gmail does not. So, if your email is [email protected] and this is already linked to personal Twitter, and this is the email you mainly use, just register the new Twitter account for giveaways to [email protected] - note I only added the period after the r. This way you only have to deal with your one email address for anything - it all goes to one email as Gmail ignores the period while Twitter does not. I strongly suggest you try to incorporate the letters "NFT"  as the first three characters of your Twitter username. You want people to immediately understand what you are all about. My own name on Twitter I chose is @NFTfreebie. "Freebie" is an actual word, and in English means something given away for free. A lot of choices are already taken, but try a few and be creative. Maybe you'll want to put "NFT" as the last three characters, but I suggest trying to get it at the front. 

With respect to Twitter, I feel one or two other things are important for success with respect to your profile. Namely, one, that somewhere you indicate you will #HODL the NFTs you are given. I feel this is crucial. You can't just ask for free stuff from creators and then turn around and sell the NFT, especially for a low price. Maybe, but it would catch up with you fast I think. Every single NFT I have been given thus far, I HODL. On my Twitter profile, I clearly indicate this intention. When I respond to a giveaway post on Twitter to enter it with the hopes of getting a free NFT- I also usually specify that I am looking to HODL anything I am given or win. I think this has helped me get some free NFTs for sure. 

Another important thing with respect to Twitter, is being honest about what you are seeing and like for NFTs. Sure, you could simply copy and paste the same response over and over when trying to "enter" a giveaway, or write something as simple as "cool!" but if you say something meaningful and detailed about the specific NFT, art, or project, or inject some humor, or somehow be unique, the creators of the NFTs being given away will notice and appreciate genuine compliments. First, don't worry about getting followers on Twitter. As you start to win a giveaway and post about the giveaways you win, the followers will come. And as your follower count goes up, it would seem like a win because someone giving you a free NFT wants exposure for themselves too by way of your account tweeting about the NFT you just got. This has also been a key element to my success - I make a great and personalized tweet for any NFT I win in which I tag the creator's Twitter page and their OpenSea page. This does take some time. but, firstly, it's a great way for me, being a low-baler, to say thanks without financial investment. And, secondly, when someone considering giving me a free NFT goes to my Twitter page sees post speaking about a cool NFT I just got, and sees that it's getting engagement, I feel this also increases the chances that I could win their giveaway - they see I am not just winning, and disappearing.

You can see my Tweets, and replies, both exemplifying giveaways I won, and giveaways I entered, and see all the NFTs I HODL at OpenSea. When on Twitter, you can search the hashtag #NFTgiveaway - and you'll see quite a few opportunities are out there. The weekends are the best time try. Note also that there are A LOT of scammers out there too. I share my wallet address, but not much else, and certainly no sensitive info. Most of the scams seem focused on building a base of followers on Twitter because there is a lot of paid promotions on Twitter for NFTs.

Anyway, this is not an exact path, I have not painstakingly edited or pored over the details in this article, and this information does not include an explanation of all the nuances that come with such an endeavor. However, this is the main blueprint that just got me my 100th free NFT in only about 1 month's time and only very part-time!
