Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Deeplurker card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: Deeplurker

Deeplurker is a water splinter card and it cost 6 mana. It has opportunity from the start. At level 6, it learns poison and at max level, it learns demoralize. It has 3 attack from the start and it also has decent health so I think this is a great addition to the water splinter deck. I don't use this card too often but this is a great card that can attack from anywhere. So when I have the available mana left, it becomes one of my preferred choices of a damage dealer.
My current Deeplurker is only level 1 and I could level it up to level 2. However I am unsure which cards to build and which to leave alone. The level 1 version is more than strong enough for me to use so I don't feel like I need to rush leveling it up because it won't learn poison until level 6.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The rule set this time is close range and reverse speed. This means that ranged monsters can attack from the front spot and slower monsters act faster. There is 46 mana available and you can use all splinters except for fire and earth. With so much mana available, I should be able to make the most of my own deck.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Lir Deepswimmer because it has the return fire ability. I am hoping my opponent does use range monsters so this ability helps me finish off my opponent. It also has +2 shield and the blind ability to my opponent so they will miss more and my cards will live longer.
My plan would be to outlast my opponent. As I have protection against range with return fire, I think having a void magic monster in front is better for my odds. Besides this I want to add in a few different low speed monsters such as Sand Worm, Deeplurker and Feasting Seaweed for damage. Besides that I would add in a few cards to help my cards live a bit longer.
Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have this match won. I got plenty of shield due to Lir and my opponents will also have blind. At the same time, my opponent's damage on my front-line isn't that high so I should be able to wipe out a few cads on my opponent's side without too much of an issue. My healer is worthless due to my opponent's summoner though and he isn't using any ranged monsters.
Round 2

The first round went quite well as I took out two monsters on my opponent's side and I have yet to lose any cards on my side. I think my own chances of winning this match is quite high.
Round 3

I managed to take out another two cards on my opponents side and I have yet to lose a card. However it does look like I might lose my tank soon. So I don't feel like I have any chance of losing this match based on the my cards left.

I forwarded to the end of the match and I did win the match. In the end, two cards were nearly dead but I managed to come out of this match as the winner. So I was able to win the match without losing a single card.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went as I expected. My monsters were able to live longer due to the extra armor given by my summoner and I quickly made quick work of my opponent's monsters. The only thing I didn't expect was my opponent to not play any ranged monsters so my return fire was wasted. It was a good play on my side to have void magic on my tank as it definitely lived longer due to that. My backup tank Lobstradamus was worthless as it did zero damage and took zero damage. The only benefit it could have had was that it could tank a few extra hits if I lost my tank.
I have to say that Lir was a good play if I looked at the rule set but it didn't play out like I expected. The extra armor did help against all the melee monsters my opponent had but I didn't expect my opponent to use Mimosa. The extra tank heal card I put down was negated and I think my opponent had a fairly strong deck. The problem he had was that he had to take out my shield first before he could damage my cards and that did not go well for him.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
