These are my personal top 5 unpopular crypto opinions in descending order for dramatical effect...
Rule 5.
x1000+ gains are like a lottery win.
Regardless of why you stay (financial freedom, the tech, future of finance, etc), we all know the reason why we got into crypto, it was for the insane gains. It was for the chance to turn a couple of hundred into a couple of million. Today there are around 26375 cryptocurrencies, in the bull market that number will grow. Some of them will absolutely x1000+ but the likelihood of you choosing and holding that coin are slim.
Rule 4.
It takes money to make money.
Similar to rule 5, it is possible to stick a couple of hundred in, call the absolute bottom/top, gamble on max leverage, and never look back.. but the reality is you would likely get liquidated by the price chop and lose it all. It is much safer to grow your stack in the bear market by consistently putting money in, and then selling it all in the bull market. Rinse and Repeat.
Rule 3.
Influencers only job is to pump their own bags.
It does not matter how nice, how helpful, or how funny they seem. It does not matter what platform they are on, their only job is to get you to buy their coins to inflate the price. DYOR and listen to yourself rather than the influencers.
Rule 2.
Self Custody is not for everyone.
I wont go deep into this as it deserves a post of its own. But basically i believe that self custody should be the goal for every crypto enthusiast, however until you are sufficiently educated, it's OK to keep your crypto on an exchange.
Rule 1.
If a project can rug and get away with it, then that project will 100% rug at some point.
It does not matter how established the project is, how popular it is, or how trustworthy it seems.. if the people in charge feel they can get away with rugging the coin/project, then at some point they will do just that. This is why I find it so difficult to invest in anything with an anonymous team. It makes getting away with a rug so much easier.
