My Rose

My Rose

My Rose

You were my rose-colored boy All pretty and prep Like it was Valentine's Day In the middle of a storm onset Supermarket mischief Led me to you Chucked on the counter With bills colored blue

Put you in a vase Placed you on the table Showing to the guests Your beauty while you're able As you wilt, I wept My friends once said In the garden of roses up head Are you sure it's the best one yet?

The momentary bursts of their own dispositions Had me by my neck And forced my decisions Goodbye, exclaimed But a hello you exchanged A new chapter has started A new flower has sprouted Thorns begin to grow You hesitate to show But I loved you before I had the courage to know As the night strips you bare As the scars to scare I cover you with a blanket Envelops you in which I call care Yes, you are the best one yet Not because of my ideals that you have met But simply for the time that we have spent You are my rose carrying with you my favorite scent
