Ecosia is an ecological web search engine that goes beyond theory and has already managed to plant more than 100 million trees thanks to the benefits generated by its use.
But ... how does it work?
Developed in Germany, it is a web search engine that you can use in your browser. When using the browser, some benefits are generated, of which 80% will be dedicated to their ecological mission.
They do not sell data to third parties and do not use user data to generate profit. Privacy is important to Ecosia.
Currently, thanks to this green initiative and more than 15 million active users, they have already invested more than 12 million Euros, which translates into projects such as the reforestation and recovery of spaces, protection and regeneration of the habitat of animal species such as orangutan or the support and development of alternatives to palm oil.
Ecosia also generates reports of its economic transparency since they think that the trust of users is something that is earned.
In summary it is a very interesting project, real and working, of which at least, we should know of its existence.
