Are they using you to mine crypto?

By Jandmade | Jandmade | 20 Jun 2020

We all worry about security, reliability and privacy when we connect to the internet and especially when it comes to obtaining and using cryptocurrencies. Not long ago, the well-known video game company Nintendo was suspected as it was accused of using the game Cooking Mama: Cookstar was mining crypto in the background without users knowing it. This form of mining without consent is a more common practice than it seems and it goes quite unnoticed by users although there are tools to know if we are being used for mining, who can be trusted or prevent them from using us for this purpose. The default Opera 50 browser already prevents them from taking advantage of your mining resources. There are other useful tools such as extensions for the Chrome browser that help you protect yourself, such as MinerBlock. Notmining is another very useful tool with a search engine where you can insert an address and find out if they are legit or not since they provide you with information about whether the page redirects you, is infected or has any suspicious behavior.
