Hey folks, if you’ve followed my other articles, you’ll know that I’m always up for free NFTs, and this offer is no different.
In this offer there’s a total of 10,000 different NFTs entitled “Piece of Magic” created by GMUNK which according to crypto.com, includes collectibles that:
“paint visual stories of each match, as they’re generated from heatmaps of the players’ attacks, tackles, and winning goals.”
In order to get one of these NFTs, you need:
- Coca-Cola Fanzone account (free)
- Crypto.com NFT account (free). To note, a Crypto.com NFT account is separate from a regular Crypto.com, and many people (including myself) for whatever reason are not able to link the two.
It’s also a little unclear whether or not these are supposed to be available only residents of the Middle East, because the promotion itself is run by Coca-Cola Middle East, not by Coca-Cola in general. You’ll find in signing up for an account, you can do so but there’s non-Middle East option you can choose from. Regardless, I found that selecting any country will allow you to continue your account setup.
Claiming your NFT
Once your accounts are setup, you need to head over to the Piece of Magic website where you are able to claim your free NFT. To my understanding, there are two different types of NFTs that you can claim — ones that are generative art “inspired by the unique ‘heatmaps’ created by each team’s on-field attacks, tackles, and winning goals,” and the others that are simply “Commemorative NFTs.” The Commemorative NFTs I assume are not tied in with specific games, and are currently still available now:
It’s unclear how many of the “match-day” NFTs are/were available, but regardless of the number, I’m assuming that they have gone pretty quickly, especially if they’re tied in with one specific game. However if you’re feeling lucky, on game day in accordance to their “Claiming Fixture,” you still have a couple more chances if you haven’t already to claim on either the final game or the 3rd place game:
It’s a little unclear what the NFT number breakdown is for each particular match day, but if you’re successful, you will immediately receive a voucher code where you can enter here.
Conclusion
Free NFTs are always nice, especially if they’re directly tied into your favorite country/team/player. All this being said, I sorely wish that this promotion was being done by anyone else but Crypto.com, because I really think Crypto.com’s NFT wallet is one of the worst products out there. Super long delays with logging-in and e-mail/SMS verifications make it a real pain to use.
Regardless of my complaints, free is free and I’m still going to be checking the site out on game days to see if I’m one of the lucky few that are able to get a generative piece of art. I think this adds just another great gamified level of fun on an already fun and exciting tournament. Are you planning on trying to claim one of these NFTs? Or have you already? I’d love to see what they look like because I haven’t been able to find any that have been claimed or released. Also…think Messi will finally win a World Cup?
