Hey folks, I’ve written about Coinbase and the free stuff you’ve been able to get via their Coinbase mobile wallet or through an actual Coinbase account, but they’ve been releasing so many quests and freebies that I figure that it’d all be worth sharing what they’ve been up to.
If you’re brand-spanking new to Coinbase, it’s probably the only on-ramp that I trust linking to my bank account to buy my $BTC and $ETH, and furthermore my trust has been only compounded as they’ve really emerged as the white knight in the fight against SEC over establishing legitimacy over the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
For full transparency, prior to last month I’ve only used my Coinbase mobile wallet sparingly, but with the launch of their layer-2 solution Base and their On Chain Summer campaign, I’ve been finding myself using the Coinbase wallet a great deal more and most likely will continue to do so as long as it continues to be integrated in different UI/UX’s of the protocols I commonly use the most.
Anyways, on to the freebies…
$5 + $10 worth of $OP
These comprise of two tasks that are only accessible through the Coinbase Wallet and are really easy to complete — the NFT mint $5 OP bonus that can be done with any NFT mint via Manifold (mine was done for literally cents worth of $ETH) and the $10 OP bonus that can be done through any LP on yearn.finance, even a stablecoin-pair that has minimal impermanent loss.
Based Soulbound NFT
Once again, this is an offer that you can only receive through the Coinbase Wallet, but unlike the previous offer does not require any minting fees and will get airdropped to your wallet immediately after you send the message “gm” to onchainsummer.eth:
According to the terms, this promotion will only go until September 8th, and during this time your NFT can change or “evolve” up to 6 times in correspondence with how many different NFTs you mint during this time. In addition, this is a “soulbound” NFT meaning that you can own only one, and it cannot be traded or sold.
$3 worth of $ETH
This is a relatively quick and easy task that simply involves bridging $ETH onto the Base L2 network. Personally I only saw this offer on the Coinbase mobile app, not the Coinbase website or the Coinbase mobile/desktop wallet.
This reward will post instantly as soon as you bridge over however little (or large) an amount from your Coinbase account to the Base network.
$5 + $15 worth of $ACS
This is a 2-part quest that begins through your Coinbase account and ends in your Coinbase mobile wallet. The first $5 dollars worth of $ACS can be accessed (no pun intended) through the ‘Learning rewards’ section of your Coinbase account after you complete the following quizzes:
Subsequently you can claim another $15 dollars worth of $ACS after transferring at least 1050 $ACS (approximately $2 USD at time of writing) to your Coinbase mobile wallet and ‘locking’ 1000 $ACS content creator subscription.
A lot of different NFTs
Even though the Onchain Summer event technically ends in September, there’s still a lot of different NFTs that you’re able to mint, many that are completely free (even gas) and some with the gas fees:
Will any of these be worth anything? Probably not. But still a cool promotion nonetheless.
