When Phones Were Fun – The QWERTY Phones (2001-2008)
I had nokia 5510 when I was a teen. It was nokia 3310 with full keyboard, mp3 player and additional armor.
not even joking :

It was heavy and solid enough that when my friend broke his bed frame while drunk on some youth camp we used my phone and few nails to hammer the bed back together. Phone was unfazed except few rings in places where the nail head impressed itself in plastic, but no cracks at all.
I wonder if gorilla glass will ever be solid enough to do this with a smartphone.
The COMPLETE OPPOSITE of a MacBook - System 76 Oryx Pro
not sure if they managed to kill Intel Management Engine spyhardware on it with coreboot.
I will go AMD on next upgrade cycle anyway - better safe than sorry.

Dangers to freedom
‘Modern-day slavery’ revealed in UK garment factories
I think that is the whole deal with encouraging mass migrations - let's have a bunch of workers/slaves that officially don't exist so the "marketing numbers" will look better. We can rise minimal wage without much impact, GDP looks better and so on. And if someone threatens to break this illusion we can just deport them.
The Coronavirus Lockdown Did Not Work
I doubt people making guidelines didn't expect that...
Russia - Ukraine war. Act two?
Crimea seems to be a huge burden without Crimean canal - Russians need to do something about water situation there - and that's scary.

Forests Create Tons of Rain on Earth - Controversial Flying Rivers Theory
So another feedback loop for climate - the more forest is burned the less rain we will have and in turn that will make forest burn even faster. Just PEACHY...

Siberia: Temperature 104° Degrees – WHAT? (w/ Michael Mann)
40 °C! You can't imagine how much I hate those retarded medieval units.
Space - doom or salvation?
How Prepared Are We For A Carrington Level Solar Storm?
TL;DR : we are not prepared at all. Solution: raise whole electric grid to the ground and start over - so no solutions. I think power grids in europe are "safer" - they are smaller less interconnected and more uniform in working parameters, but I didn't investigate that so I may be totally wrong - I appreciate any comments about that.
Are Space Elevators Possible?
when I think about growing old, the robust space economy - producing things in space and importing what we lack down here from up there is the only thing that gives me some hope I will grow old. Economy can expand infinitely if the resources are infinite. But it's too slow too late and life when I need to pay for every breath(2 times first for oxygen and then for co2 recycling) does not sound fun anyway.
