My heart still longs to see your face,
Yet what am I to do?
My eyes still search for you, my love,
Though love has turned so blue.

My nights are dark without your light,
Devoid of moon and flame;
Where is that face, so bright and fair?
Where is your tender name?

Wherever I may turn my eyes,
It is your face I find;
I wander through my memories,
With you still on my mind.

And if the morning breeze should pass
Along the road you tread,
A thousand times my heart would race
At whispers of your name.

I tried to flee from loving you,
To leave your memory far;
But my heart refused to make that choice—
It loved you as you are.

What good are all the words they say,
The counsel of the wise?
Love came and stole my will away,
And left me no disguise.

You may have gone, but in my heart
Your presence still remains;
How could I ever let you go,
When you became my world?

Though distance now lies between us,
Your name still fills the night;
And every silent star above
Reminds me of your light.

I wait beside the door for you,
With hope that you will come;
I stay awake through endless nights,
Alone beneath the moon.

No sleep can calm this restless heart,
No peace can make it whole;
For without you, I have nothing left—
No strength, no heart, no soul.

And if one day you came again,
What would become of me?
Perhaps your eyes would breathe new life
Into this dying heart.

One single glance from you, perhaps,
Could wash my sorrow away;
One gentle word, one quiet smile,
Could make the whole world bloom.

My heart still longs to see your face,
Though weary from the pain;
It bears the weight of all this loss,
And waits for you again.

Come back, for even breath itself
Feels strange when you are gone;
Your love still lives within my heart,
And there it will live on.

And if you never come to me,
My love, then let it be—
It is enough that once you were
The dearest part of me.
