People today live in a fast pace environment. Everyday is spent moving from one thing to the next. Unconscious of what we are doing. Losing ourselves in the numbers on the clock. A slave to a piece of paper just so we could go on with our existence. All of the things in our lives affect our mental health.
What can we do to help ourselves?
First, we must learn to become selfish because if we cannot help ourselves, how could we know how to help others. If we are not the best version of ourselves, how could we expect the best version of others. We are all people pleasers and care what other people think. We are always trying to do things for others while neglecting how we truly feel. Don’t get it twisted though, helping people is great but just be aware of your motives!
Second, we must take care of our bodies. What we put into it is critical! Who doesn’t enjoy a Big Mac with fries or whatever your guilty pleasure may be. Who really cares though, we all pass eventually so why not go out with enjoying the guilty pleasures in life? This is true, who does care? McDonald’s doesn’t, they love you as a customer. Your family doesn’t know every meal you eat. Your doctor stays in business because everyone eats fast food and fried food and sugar. Whose stopping you from eating what you want?
Third, we need to keep active and exercise. “Idle hands are the devils playground” and we never know where those hands end up if we do not stay active. Clicking a mouse or remote, in a bag of chips, texting and other places you could only imagine if you had the extra time from being idle. We all need some time to relax but can you really enjoy it if that’s all you do?
Mental health is more serious now than in years past. People are the same but it is what’s around us that is affecting our brain. Distractions are all around us but stay focused on a desired goal and do it because you will not be stopped!
Do it today!
