Now donΒ΄t get me wrong, I am not in it for the money!
I am not playing 10 Games every Freaking night for those 17 cents on average they made so far.
But I am curious to see if investing time and GODS tokens will pay off.
For those who missed last month's post, I spent over half the fortune I made playing Gods Unchained on improving my deck. And I planned to get that investment back in four weeks!
Last Month's Closing Statement
First Round
What could I expect from my new Deception deck after playing the same Deception deck for five months? I was kinda expecting huge gains of course.
What did it deliver?
I figured out that the second column with the W & L stands for wins and losses all by myself, after five months of playing....ain't that great?
Did I meet my expectations?
Hell No!
I did exactly the same as with my new deck on Monday as I did last Saturday with my old deck???
Where are my huge profits?
I am never gonna make those GODS back in 4 weeks like this.
The Truth Hurts
I was flabbergasted and slapped in the virtual face.
How?WHY?
Till I figured out what nobody told me.
What the hell was I thinking, I was playing with low-quality cards. Probably lower or equal to what my previous deck???
So I went to spend about 15 GODS extra to upgrade the quality at least a little.
Your biggest jump is from Plain to Meteorite. Once you have a deck full of Meteorite cards your GODS earnings jumps 68.17%. Notice that even one plain card in the deck drops your earning percentage by -3%.
And I was holding 4 plainies because I did not know???
If I had known this I might have spent my Investment wiser, now I needed to take another 5 GODS to fix this mess first.
I took a screenshot ofΒ this guysΒ Reddit just to remember how big of a mistake I made:
Because I could have been playing with a full Meteor Deck some months ago, when I learned that upgrading was the trick.
I just wasnΒ΄t told to upgrade all cards!!!
So here I was not knowing and already buying shadow cards, while still having plainies in my deck....OOPS!
Just see what happened when those plainies got an upgrade:
Some Good with the Bad
The bit of good news was that because I was already buying/forging Shadow cards I was holding 19 Meteor/11 Shadow getting me closer to that next 3.5% increase.
But that will take another round of investing....or....my sales need to go up.
Best Noob Advice Is In The Comments
Now while doing my research I found another great piece of Noob advice.
A higher rank, so far I did not get beyond Rank 7 but after a week with the new and tuned deck, I moved up to Rank 8. So I wondered will that hold, and will it make a difference?
Well, I lost the first one so I think that will bring luck....
Lost the 2nd one as well.
I actually lost all 4 consecutive games and got set back to rank 7.
Lucky Number 7
Seven is my lucky number but I never made seven wins in a day. Set back to rank 7 I made another minor adjustment. Maybe that was just enough, maybe I just got lucky, but I finally got 7/10 wins.
How do I rank after a bit more than a week compared to the three previous periods?
Rank 8
I was one battle away from being a rank 8 again, how much more would raising in rank make me? I know the comments said itΒ΄s the best way
So 5 wins rank 7 =290 shards
5 wins rank 8 = 330 shards
A 13% shard increase. Interesting!
Now in week one, I was on a 54% win rate, but that was still while being ranked 7. Over the whole 4 weeks, I won 125/280 and with my previous deck it was 105/234 in 4 weeks, which gives my both decks a 45% win rate.
Nothing? Nothing happened, I had the same rate the month before, but....big butt.....
The Difference
Previously that win rate was at Rank 6 and max 7.
My win rate now at Rank 7 is close to 60%, itΒ΄s the fact that Rank 8 and a couple of days Rank 9 take me down to a little below that 40% win rate.
Out of the four weeks, I spent most time at Rank 8, not Rank 10 (yet) but my investment did allow me to move up in the world, while losing just as many games as I did before.
Investments Paying Off?
As I said I did not stop investing after those 65 GODS last month. I think I spend another 25 GODS to get to a deck I feel comfortable with and that holds 19 Shadow cards.
Because after posting this I will upgrade one more just to see if having 20 actually makes that difference.
But did I make those 90 GODS back in 4 weeks, that is the question. Can I show myself the money?
What did I win in the last 28 days?
If I had stuck to 65 I would have made it, as I made 70.5 GODS in 4 weeks. But I would not have made 70.5 GODS with the deck I had after my 65 GODS shopping spree because that deck still held plain cards.
Overall, if I had bought the right cards straight away 65 GODS would have been enough, and I would have made back 70 in 4 weeks.
But I bought a couple of cards that were not meeting expectations.
I Had To Let Her Go
So in general I was pretty pleased with my investment, except for this one lady....
Yes, I had to let Kaya, Conduit of the Gods go as she just did not deliver. And I took a loss on her, a 3.5 GODS loss but I could no longer face that mistake.
I knowΒ @elcholitosantoΒ called her out as a hero, but I prefer a different tactic.
I sometimes need the power to clear the whole board and not just hit the crowd with 6 or 7 Mana before Kaya gets killed,
So I prefer a simpler card:
If there are 5 cards on the board this card easily does 10 Mana damage and removes all the pain in one go.
I Want This Guy!
Now I have been working on a wishlist and right at the top is this guy:
Of course, thatΒ΄s a bit much as an X-Mas gift so he will not be joining my ranks any time soon.
The Lesser Gods
Within the more affordable range, I found these dudes and dudettes. I would appreciate some feedback on which to buy, or what you would add to this deck:
I am thinking about:
Appeal to Mercy or Unlikely Pact or both. Combined with Shadowstep Backstabber. This way all those war cards also give deadly.
Orfeo in Wanderlands: A useful but expensive fellow deadly and keeping your kill is definitely interresting.
Professor of Murder: With 7 Mana will those deadly Skulkers still make a difference, or will they always be late? But heΒ΄s cheap.
Pietro, Merry Bandit: 3 for the price of one might just make the difference at only 4 Mana, but again....pretty expensive.
Ember Oni: Another slightly expensive fellow but the burn and the leech seem to be very useful in The End Game.
Deuteria...... Deuteria keeps coming back stronger that is many for the price of 1 Mana!
Oops, I Couldn't contain myself and bought her. But what if I add two of those?
OOPS, Couldn't contain myself again now I have two.
OOPS OOPS OOPS another expensive lesson; you can have only one copy of cards with a legendary rarity. Fortunately.
I was able to sell my #2, so this ended up being a not-too-expensive lesson.
Bottom Line
If you ever come across a noob do not tell him/her these 3 pieces of Absolute Noob Advice:
- Upgrade your whole deck at least to meteor
- Moving up in Rank gains you over a 10% shards increase
- You can hold 2 of each card, but not of the legendary ones
Now if you read about my adventures and go, oh that noob is so lost feel free to share some of your best Noob Advice in the comments.
Meanwhile, I will set out on my next adventure; First, get my money back, then spend about 75 Gods on one or two cards to keep me a steady rank 8 or 9 and see how that works out for me (meaning I want to get that investment back within 4 weeksπ).
And I might just start building a second deception deck with a slightly different strategy.
If you have any advice on which cards to buy, please leave a comment
Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!
If you enjoyed my little adventure donΒ΄t forget to hit that like button as itΒ΄s one of the few free things left in this life.
