Tally Ho Wallet Summons MetaMask to Battle | It's Time for The Hound to Chase out The Fox

Tally Ho, is a new popular Web 3.0 Wallet with the mark of a hound that seems to be a self-proclaimed competitor of MetaMask, which has the mark of a fox.

We can all agree that MetaMask is a convenient, user-friendly, easy-to-engage non-custodial wallet, yet, TallyHoWallet is going to be even more impressive with features you wouldn’t expect.

Tally Ho vs. MetaMask

It is a nice analogy, the hungry hound (Tally Ho mascot) going after the jungle fox (MetaMask mascot), but let’s go for the real stuff and actual benefits we are going to get in the birth of this new creation.

While MetaMask is still one of the renowned non-custodial decentralized wallets, not being "open source" is a big problem for them. Because, no open source means no trust, no the other hand, Tally Ho is an EVM “Ethereum Virtual Machine” wallet like Metamask with open source code (Github).

Tally Ho not only lets you “receive” on the “Ethereum” and “Polygon” blockchains, but you can also swap for trades (with much affordable fee prices that Metamask)

Tally Ho Web 3.0 wallet renders properties VS. MetaMask like being able to connect to the same dApps as MetaMask, asks only for half the MetaMask swap fee, is completely open-source, and many more attributes to speak of. However, what makes it special is the unique aspect of being “100% community-owned”.

Tally Ho| The First Community-Owned Wallet

Tally Ho is the first wallet owned by the community, the start of a new age, and a huge difference between Tally Ho! and MetaMask, which can certainly put Tally Ho wallet in the lead.

As much as a dog has admirable loyalty to its owner, Tally Ho has prioritized the benefit of its community. Explaining how it is brought by a community of developers, it is owned by the community, not a conglomerate, therefore, all wallet fees and generated money are going straight to the Tally Ho community. So, technically, the fee that users pay for swap services goes back to them as the Tally Ho community eventually, although I’m still curious how it is going to work in practice. They have announced the DOA for this reason, which we explain in the next section.

It is a big claim and if implemented on a vast scale, it can start a revolution in the world of wallets. No doubt MetaMask has a huge supporting community already, but “directly benefiting users” is a game-changing feature for Tally Ho that MetaMask lacks.

How Tally Ho Wallet Return Fees To Users.

MetaMask surpassed 21 million MAUs (monthly active users) and they say it made more than 230 million dollars in 2021 thanks to user swaps and fees which not a cent went to the community. A year ago Metamask announced the launch of a token and then a DAO, but nothing officially took place.

According to Tally Ho's announcement, the first complete wallet will be released as a DAO. What is DAO? A Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is like a bank account for the wallet and when DAO wallets receive money, they make payments or invest.

Tally Ho DAO is going to be in form of delegates, voted on by the community. The users are going to be the decision-makers and they all vote on what to do with the worthwhile contributors' funding, they also perform plenty of other tasks, such as voting on future developments and governing proposals. There is a process to nominate yourself as a Delegate HERE.

By participating in their active community (Tally.Cash ) you can find out more about their effort. Their social accounts are as below:

Tally Ho Updates | $Doggo Token

3 audits have already been performed for Tally Ho wallet including Least Authority, Open Zeppelin, and Code Arena. They also going to have their own token called $Doggo, something that MetaMask promised a while ago, yet never actually presented. $Doggo is supposed to play a part in staking and governance, and folks with staked $Doggo will have power in governance.

TallyHoWallet

I already tried to download and install the Tally Howallet on my firefox browser (the irony!). it is very straightforward, easy to work with, and unlike MetaMask (sometimes) doesn’t confuse you.

TallyHoWallet

I also used “read-only address” and added one of my already existing accounts and it immediately showed my total balance.

For that, you can also “import recovery phrase”. Another feature here is to “create new wallet”

There is another exciting feature for a non-custodial wallet here called  “swap assets” which I’m dying to try.

TallyHoWallet

The last feature is called “menu” and it comes with various options to choose from:

Hide asset balance under $2

Use Tally Ho as default wallet

You can also join their community here and give feedback.

In case you’re wondering, here you can report a bug in Discord (join their discord) or export logs.

There go my take on TallyHoWallet, I’m sure you can find more if you dig deeper and it is worth it. I can say with certainty, that these aspects are really alluring and promising.
