If you ask me, Gohar Eshghi, 80 years old mother of Sattar, is one of the most iconic features of the Iran Revolution 2022.
Sattar Beheshti was a young Iranian blogger who had the audacity to criticize the Islamic republic & as the result, he got arrested on October 30, 2012, by the Iranian cyber police. Sattar died in custody immediately, allegedly from severe torture.
His family was informed of his death one week later, on November 6. Gohar Eshghi, Sattar's mom, recorded this message in her son's memory for the Persian New Year in March 2013.
Gohar was bold, and she started a fight to take his son’s revenge. He had no money, no one backed her up and everybody would laughed at her because she was a tiny, insignificant old woman! But little by little she started to let the world know it.
As the mother of Sattar, she would take that photo everywhere, sleep with it, dine with it,….

She had to problem with hijab but after the women's revolution, she decided to get rid of her hijab after 80 years and stand with Iranian Women.
The Islamic Republic's intelligence agencies warned Gohar Eshghi that they would assassinate her by using chemical agents if she did not keep quiet. They literally called her and threaten her by saying: If you won’t shut up, will gas you and shut you up!
