Finally, the Central Bank announced to Shaparak Company (the main banking gateway in Iran) to block the gateways providing cryptocurrencies.

But later on, with the arrival of this year, it was suggested that the main companies providing payment gateways under the supervision of Shaparak, especially in the form of IPG, provide services to online exchanges selling cryptocurrencies, in response to which the Parliament speaker wrote a letter to the head of the central bank and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance called for the blocking of the electronic payment gateway of digital currency exchanges, and explicitly stated that merely announcing a ban on cryptocurrency exchanges could not absolve the Central Bank and the Ministry of Economy of responsibility.

Following the escalation of the issue in the cryptocurrency market, the Central Bank responded by saying that they would refrain from banning the payment gateways of the exchange offices until a roadmap was drawn up in this regard.

On the other hand, the Minister of Economy on how to manage the cryptocurrency market believes that this area should be actively managed and acted to maximize the benefits of cryptocurrencies and minimize their disadvantages.

However, a letter has recently been issued by the Office of the President to the Central Bank stating that “at the request of more than 60,000 cryptocurrency traders and businesses, the necessary action will be taken to prevent the blocking of Internet payment gateways”

The statistic shows that right now 12 million Iranians have entered the cryptocurrency market. 77% of them have entered this market intending  to preserve the value of their money.
