do we laugh or cry?
My son inlaw turned up a new BYD EV utility. His electrical company had replaced the diesel Toyota utilities at the beginning of the war. About the time the cost of diesel shot up.
We were discussing all the smart features. But saidhow annoying the eye monitoring tech was. Mentioned that we had bought shares years ago, in an UK startup developing this sort of tech. Couldn’t remember the exact name, “Seeing Something”

In those days we were investing in Disruptive Tech (aka Revolutionary Tech). That was before we discovered crypto. And of course crypto was a natural fit (Disruptive ztech) and it seemed to have way more upside.
Seeing Something
Was hunting through old spreadsheets trying to locate some historical data. Had tried a few times with no luck. Must of deleted in error. Had the idea to check the backup folder.
Found what I was looking for and also came across some old share trading records.
The company was called Seeing Machines.
- 2016 bought 53,000 units @0.05 pounds
- 70,000 units @0.0398 pounds
- 123,000 units @0.05 pounds
- total 146,000 units
- at the time was 4.62 pounds per unit.
Funny Part

We sold all the international shares a couple years later. In those days it was very hard to buy and sell international shares. And custody was not like it is today. Found it too much hassle, so decided to only invested in ASX.
Sad Part

If we had kept the shares till now and thats a big if. They would have been worth way more than what the entire crypto portfolio was worth.
Seeing Machines

- founded in 2000 as a spin-out from the Australian National University (ANU) and Volvo Technological Development
- not a UK startup after all
- primary founders were researchers Alex Zelinsky, Sébastien Rougeaux, Tim Edwards, and Jochen Heinzmann
- IPO 2005, SEE:LSE, 0.20 pounds (20 pence)
