If you’re interested in Radio & Cybersecurity we’d love to see your work.
We developed the Radio Hackers publication so learning enthusiasts would have a centralised place to learn about the radio spectrum and how important it is to parts of the cyber and information security worlds. Starting as a “Just us” publication, we’ve decided to throw it open in 2024 and call for submissions by other authors. We are doing this, hoping to increase the availability of resources to those who are studying.
So. Are you a technical writer? Or maybe you’re a learner who’s looking to document their journey and inspire others? Regardless of your journey, if you’re a Medium writer then we’re interested and the Radio Hackers publication is calling on you to submit your work!
We’re looking for pieces of varying length and technical standards to assist in providing regularly updated content to the Radio Hackers publication.
Regular contributors would be ideal but we’re happy to submit one-off pieces too if you’re only looking to give things a try. Reach out and talk to us, we’d love to hear from you.
We Like To Read About
Pretty much anything you can think of that encompasses the use of the Radio Spectrum for learning, making, or cybersecurity roles. Pentesting a Bluetooth, ISM or Wi-Fi device? Send it in. We particularly like security research around IOT devices that also transmit. This means cameras, smart sensors, vehicle accessories and embedded systems are all a huge yes.
Navigating the learning path and finding your feet amongst the myriad of things that you can use the spectrum for? Document it, so people can read about your journey and find resources that you’ve found useful.
Thrown together a project using an SDR & Raspberry Pi device? It just so happens that we love that little board, which means we love seeing unique, creative and real-world use cases.
We’re also super interested in Space Communications and Drone technology. Both of these fields have seen intense expansion over the past few years and experienced specialists in these fields are extremely coveted. It’s also super important for us to share this knowledge collectively with others in the security field.
Really, your imagination is the limit for this type of thing. Medium provides a rich base of content along with an active community of users. This means that people love to read about new things, and that probably includes your journey and experiences as well.
How to submit
Please send all submissions to [email protected] with a link to your Medium draft. Put the title of your piece as the subject in the email.
If you’re new to Medium have a look at some guides on how to write a draft here: https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/225168768
Then, instead of hitting publish, you’ll select the three dots next to the publish button and then select ‘share draft link.’ Copy that link and paste it into the email.
Be sure your piece has a clear Title, Subtitle, and an Image.
If your piece is accepted you will be added as a writer and we will be in touch to tell you what to do next.
Remember, your submission must also follow any rules as set out by Medium here.
We can only review one submission at a time so please wait to hear back before submitting something else. However, we don't like to keep people waiting. So we aim to respond within 72 hours. If it’s been over a week with no response then please reach out.
We’re happy to accept personally published pieces but we’d prefer not to receive work that has been published by other websites. You’re welcome (and encouraged) to put pieces behind the Medium paywall if you’d like to do so.
Note: We will also promote your work on social media.
Thank you for showing interest in growing with our publication! We aim to create a learning environment for people of all skill levels. So please follow, share and continue to engage with our growing community. Our success is dependant on your input.
