Chainalysis and Elliptic tools do not compromise Zcash Transaction Confidentiality (ZEC) when using shielded addresses. This was stated by Electric Coin Company (ECC), which is behind the development of private cryptocurrency.

On the eve of the analytic firm Elliptic announced the addition of support for tracking transparent transactions Zcash. Earlier, Chainalysis added this opportunity to its products, and the project team decided to explain how this will affect coin users.

The use of fully shielded addresses when translating ZEC makes it impossible to determine the amount of funds on them, the sender, the recipient and the transaction amount, recalled in ECC.

Even if a shielded wallet user sends funds to a transparent address, analytic services will only be able to see the amount of the transaction and the recipient.

Owners of secure addresses have the ability to selectively exchange information with third parties.

According to ECC, the number of shielded transactions in the Zcash network is constantly growing. The trend intensified after the Sapling update in 2018.

Zcash team believes that the trend will support the next upgrade of the Heartwood network, scheduled for mid-July. It will enable miners to send rewards immediately to a secure wallet.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University previously concluded that the vast majority of ZCash (ZEC) users do not use the full cryptographic potential of anonymity due to a lack of understanding of how a private coin works.
