Women's Sports (Random Sports Article)

I just watched the Women's NCAA Basketball finals. I will be honest, I have watched three women's games on TV in my life, and they were all in the last week.  Now, you don't know me, but I am 6'7" and played and watched a lot of sports in my day. As a younger person, I exclusively watched men's sports.

I now have two daughters and have slowly changed my tune. Not just because of the daughters, but plenty of reasons. After a conversation with some guys last week, I realized that I am probably 50/50 on what I watch now when it comes to men vs. women.  Now, to be honest, I don't watch much sports, unless it is an important game anymore. The exception is college football.  I was raised in the south and don't miss many UGA games.  That aside, when I do sit down to watch a game, match, contest... I could go either way.

I now prefer women's tennis to the men's game.  Tennis is an interesting one, because men have gotten so good and strong and powerful, it has made the game less enjoyable to me. Rallies are less dramatic. Serves are not fun to watch.  Golf, I could go either way.  Track and field, no preference. Volleyball, swimming, soccer, I would watch whoever is on.

So what is my point, well football doesn't really have a women's' equivalent so let's leave that one, but, basketball is still a male dominated sport.  The women, while obviously smaller and still catching up to the men in their skills, have a long way to go to reach the level of the men in enjoyability for the game as a spectator. I enjoyed the few games I watched this year, but, the skill level from the players from the best on the court to the worst just magnified that the sport needs a lot more work before it can reach any type of mainstream success enjoyed by the men. Instead of 5 or 6 women making a splash, they need 40 or 50 at that level.

I don't expect any comments from you guys on this, just my thoughts on something non-crypto.
