A remarkable development has taken place in the crypto market regarding a scam from 2023. As per Scam Sniffer, an anti-scam platform in the crypto sector, the scammer who had taken away a significant amount of crypto tokens from a victim has returned $9.27M (38.26% of the total amount) in stablecoins. The platform took to its official X account to provide the details of this development. (Blockchain Reporter)
This is from a recent article about Scam Sniffer saying that about a third of this large scam was returned. There are not a lot of details on this, but, it does raise some questions. Exactly why would someone return almost ten million dollars? Why did they not return all of it? If they were not discovered, wouldn't returning it just give more information about them?
I have my theory, someone with the ability to loose 24 million dollars also has the ability to spend a lot of money to find the person that stole it. While the transactions my be anonymous, someone all of the sudden coming into 24 million dollars would show up somewhere. Trying to move that money is going to raise some red flags. Anyway, I am just wondering if the person that returned what he could was forced to and had to type in the information with a few missing fingers?
