I am semi-retired. At 45 I decided I didn't want to travel for work anymore and left the corporate world. I still put in about 20 hours a week on earning money while the kids are at school, but for the most part my time is taken up with running our household. This means I also have some downtime, I rarely do social media, except for a little YouTube and Reddit. This brings me to my problem.
On Reddit, I came across a something in r/hypotheticalsituation. You are given 10 million dollars, but, it has to be spent in 30 days and you lose whatever is left. The catch is, you can not use the money to make more money, so no buying rental properties or mutual funds.
So why is running across this such an issue, because I have not been able to let it go. I have been constantly pondering what I would do to spend the money and have the affects last long after the thirty days. (If you are wondering, it mostly involves buying a house and cars and then prepaying all the expenses, insurance and taxes. Most of the rest is used in gift cards and pre-paying for food, travel, necessities to last until I am at least 75) I went so far as to start a spreadsheet for this to make sure I was covering everything.
So you see the problem, this is something a crazy person does. I am now even posting about it here. So my goal is to find something more productive to do with my time. I am going to have to drop Reddit (I need to keep YouTube as it helps me fix things and get dinner ideas) and go mostly cold turkey on social media. I will still drop by here as I see value in writing and creative thinking.
If you made it this far, I am just kinda rambling, but, thanks for sticking through it.
