Development Update: Cryptotask Closing in on the Launch

By 0xJonnyDee | My Technical Analysis | 27 Nov 2019

Our development team has been working hard to bring Cryptotask to you in a timely manner. And we are at the state of being 95% complete bringing us closer to our new website launch. So what has been in store? Let’s begin.

Website Functionality:

We feel our website functionality is crucial for excellent usability which we have implemented and currently working on our staging server. These technical features we have built are the following:

  • Websocket chat:

The chat is to be used between clients and freelancers where you can add attachments, thumbnails, user typing notification, lazy load ect. This means both parties can communicate in real time efficiently to collaborate at the job on hand.

  • Elastic Search:

This has to do with both client & freelancer’s discovery function of what jobs or freelancers are available. This includes enabling sorting and filtering. Although all the key info is stored on the blockchain, it can be verified. We use a SQL database and elastic search that provide an instant response to the end user.

  • Notifications:

We are currently finishing up notifications which has a bell icon on the top right, thus notifying new messages, if a new freelancer applied, or if your application has been accepted.

  • Mobile Responsiveness:

Cryptotask is a progressive web app, thus it will have a real application feel and look via your mobile’s url to carry on work or communication with your counterparts. This is nearly done and is expected to be completed in the upcoming days.

  • Bug Fixes:

Where is there an application without bugs? You heard it, nowhere. Thanks to some outside and internal testers we have fixed bugs from the features we have built. It will always be important to be ready for future bugs to identify and fix swiftly.

Blockchain Functionality:

As you may know, we are building Cryptotask on the Aeternity blockchain (AE). We chose AE due to its technology being highly scalable. Our usage of blockchain within Cryptotask is extensive therefore we needed to use a blockchain that is built to scale, and AE offers that solution.

  • Upgraded to Aeternity JS SDK:

The latest aeternity hard fork had us upgrade and everything is working smoothly. We are also using Crypto.verify_sig architecture. This allows users to connect through a signature verified by our smart contract. This means the end user doesn’t need to hold any crypto as our backend will pay the gas fees. Thus, protecting against relay attacks.

We believe this is the best approach because the end user doesn’t need to know blockchain is being used. Some Ethereum projects use this blockchain sign up process, however, we are first to use this approach with Aeternity. Making us pioneers within this blockchain. Pretty cool huh?

So there you have it. We are beginning to count the days to the launch and we can’t wait to showcase you our product. Stay classy everyone!

What is

CryptoTask (CT) is a decentralized freelance market ecosystem skipping 3rd party fees by directly connecting hirees and applicants peer to peer. CT uses a commercially scalable consensus mechanism with a reviewer board selection built into the blockchain. This means job disputes are resolved much faster and cheaper, while your reputation is stored on blockchain and there is no arbitrary censorship or hidden tampering, such as hidden boosting, something that centralized platforms are infamous for.
